Resonating Cities: Gaza, Tokyo, Sydney is a bilingual English/Japanese poetry and photo zine by writer and translator Michiyo Miyake. Drawing on her experiences participating in Palestine solidarity demonstrations in Sydney and Tokyo, this independent publication reflects on solidarity, complicity and responsibility in the face of genocide, as well as the resonances that connect cities across distance.
The zine brings together a poem written in response to these experiences with handwoven images derived from photographs taken during the marches. Each image is constructed by weaving together two identical photographs, intentionally obscuring individual identities while conveying the collective presence and voices of solidarity.
Michiyo Miyake is a writer and translator born in Japan and based in Australia. Her recent publications include the novella Green Metal: Life in Tokyo during the Nuclear Catastrophe (2024) and spiral history: TIDE (2023), a collaborative zine with artist Haji Oh exploring the histories of islands where Australian detention centres are located.

作家・翻訳者である三宅美千代による詩（英語／日本語）と写真によるZINE。著者がシドニーと東京で参加したパレスチナ連帯デモの経験をもとに制作されており、ジェノサイドに直面するなかで、遠く離れた場所にいる私たちがどのように連帯できるのか、またその状況における自らの加担性や責任をどのように考えるのかという問いを投げかけると同時に、離れた都市同士を結ぶ響きや共鳴を描き出します。
本作は、それらの経験をもとに書かれた詩と、デモ中に撮影された写真をもとに制作された手編みのイメージによって構成されています。各イメージは、同一の写真2枚を編み合わせることで作られており、個人の特定を避けながら、連帯の声と集団の存在感を視覚的に表現しています。
三宅 美千代：作家・翻訳者。日本出身、シドニー在住。最近の著作に、2011年の原発事故時の東京での生活を記録した小説『GREEN METAL』(2024)、オーストラリアの難民収容所がある島々の歴史をテーマにしたZINE『spiral history：TIDE』(2023, アーティスト呉夏枝と共同制作) などがある。
