Michiyo Miyake, The Vision You Saw, That I Cannot See|poster zine

A visual zine tracing the imagined journey of an actual Japanese woman from a Kyushu fishing village to Sumatra in the 1930s—and eventually, to internment in Australia during the Pacific War. Folded into a translucent envelope, this double-sided colour poster unfolds the landscapes she might have seen, from the humid tropics to the stark confines of the Tatura Internment Camp. A meditation on migration, memory, and forgotten lives.

Michiyo Miyake: Writer and translator, born in Japan and based in Australia.
